Apoorva Mehta co-founded Instacart in 2012, building one of the first on-demand grocery delivery platforms in the United States. A former Amazon engineer, he applied Amazon-style logistics thinking to grocery delivery, growing Instacart to serve 1,400+ retailers across 14,000+ cities. Mehta stepped back as CEO in 2021, passing the reins to Fidji Simo, while remaining executive chairman. Instacart went public in 2023.
