Demis Hassabis co-founded DeepMind in 2010, which was acquired by Google in 2014 for $500 million. Under his leadership, DeepMind made breakthrough advances including AlphaGo (defeating the world champion at Go), AlphaFold (solving protein folding — potentially the greatest scientific advance of the century), and AlphaCode. Hassabis was awarded the 2024 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for the protein structure work. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest AI researchers alive.
