Do Kwon co-founded Terraform Labs and created the Terra/LUNA ecosystem and UST algorithmic stablecoin. The collapse of UST in May 2022 wiped out approximately $40 billion in value in days, triggering a cascading crypto market crash. The event is widely regarded as one of the worst disasters in crypto history. Kwon was arrested in Montenegro in 2023 on fraud charges and extradited to the US in 2024 to face SEC and DOJ charges related to the collapse. His case has become a landmark moment in crypto regulatory history.
