Mikkel Svane co-founded Zendesk in Copenhagen in 2007 in a converted loft, building customer support software that was delightfully simple compared to incumbent offerings. Zendesk went public in 2014, was taken private by a private equity consortium in 2022 for $10.2 billion. Svane is the author of Startupland, a memoir about building a global company from Copenhagen to San Francisco. He remains engaged in the European startup ecosystem and startup advisory.
